In Allison Sekemoto's world, there is one rule left: Blood calls to blood
She has done the unthinkable: died so that she might continue to live. Cast out of Eden and separated from the boy she dared to love, Allie will follow the call of blood to save her creator, Kanin, from the psychotic vampire Sarren. But when the trail leads to Allie's birthplace in New Covington, what Allie finds there will change the world forever—and possibly end human and vampire existence.
There's a new plague on the rise, a strain of the Red Lung virus that wiped out most of humanity generations ago—and this strain is deadly to humans and vampires alike. The only hope for a cure lies in the secrets Kanin carries, if Allie can get to him in time.
Allison thought that immortality was forever. But now, with eternity itself hanging in the balance, the lines between human and monster will blur even further, and Allie must face another choice she could never have imagined having to make.

The second book of the series didn’t convince me as much as the first one but it was still really amazing. After reading the first book I was thrilled if Allie would finish all the things which she wanted to do. I couldn’t wait to know if she finds Kanin or not. And when she would find him, who would he be after the long time he was with Sarren and had to suffer all the pain? Also for me the question arises whether she will see Zeke again. All these questions are answered in this book in detail. Also Jackal was in the book again. I made friends with him pretty fast because he threw sarcastic comments in the room all the time and I’m a huge fan of people / vampires with sarcasm : ) There are lots of thrilling scenes in this book which made me really addicted to the book. Some scenes were predictable but Julie Kagawa surprised me a few times as well. Especially in the end she did what I expected her to do but I still imagined it in another way. I look forward to the third book which will be published next year…
I can definitely recommend this book to everyone who liked the first one.
